In light of the recent nationwide protests, writer and producer Craig Gore has been fired from an upcoming NBC spinoff of the Law & Order series by creator and executive producer Dick Wolf. He has also been dropped by his agency, Paradigm, after posting a series of controversial and threatening Facebook posts regarding the looting and curfew laws taking place in Los Angeles.
Happening just hours after posing for a picture while holding a rifle outside of his home and making hostile comments about looters, Gore sparked the attention of both his employers and fans alike. Gore wrote that he will “light mother****ers up who are trying to f*** w/ my property.”
“I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief,” Wolf said on the topic. “I am terminating Craig Gore immediately.”
It was only last month when Gore announced that he was joining the Law & Order spinoff. He was expected to serve as a co-executive producer. On his Facebook profile, Gore listed himself as the “co-executive producer on ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime,” but has since been removed.
A spokesperson for the Paradigm agency said, “We condemn his post in the strongest possible terms.” They cut ties with him as soon as they caught wind of the social media posts. “Craig Gore is no longer a Paradigm client.”
Gore’s negative comments gained massive traction after Drew Janda, an associate producer at NBCUniversal, tweeted out screenshots of Craig Gore’s Facebook posts and comments with the caption “Ayy @Chris_Meloni your new showrunner is a proud boy.”
The Proud Boys are a “Western chauvinist” group described by many as extremist. Following Janda’s remarks, he did not provide evidence that Gore is actually a member of the politically violent organization.
The tweet garnered attention from many who were disgusted by Gore’s threatening posts. His tweet may have also helped in bringing the issue to the tables of Wolf and the Paradigm agency, given its large response.
Though Janda initially mislabeled Gore as the showrunner, actor and star of the upcoming spinoff Chris Meloni corrected him and claimed that he has “no idea who this person is or what they do,” referencing Gore. Janda later corrected himself, providing Gore’s correct title in a reply to the tweet.
After his dismissal from the show and agency, Gore’s Facebook and Twitter pages appear to have both been deleted.
Gore’s posts were in response to the national protests that resulted from the death of George Floyd, after a disturbing video emerged of then Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck. Floyd later died, sparking nationwide protests calling for police reform. Former Officer Chauvin has since been fired, along with three other officers, and was charged with third degree murder and manslaughter.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Craig Gore was in prison when he was 18, according to his IMDb page. The former writer and producer for the Law & Order spinoff previously worked on shows such as S.W.A.T. as the executive producer and Chicago P.D. as a co-executive producer.
