Kirk Cameron and his Maskless Caroling Events

Kirk Cameron has been getting a lot of attention lately in the news and on social media. He hosted another maskless caroling event last Tuesday to protest the order to stay-at-home in California. Officials issued the order due to the resurgence of COVID-19, also called coronavirus. He’s continued to host these events even though cases in the United States are on the rise.

Reports show that at least 100 maskless people attended his most recent caroling event. Cameron called his planned event “Sing It Louder USA” when he posted about it on his social media.

Who is Kirk Cameron?

Cameron became a well known and loved actor when he played air-headed and girl-crazy Mike Seaver on the show “Growing Pains.” The show ran from 1985 to 1992. However, in recent years he is mostly known for his right-wing political beliefs and strong opinions. He loves to share them and speaks out about his views regularly.

Total Disregard for Public Safety

Public health officials pleaded with Kirk Cameron to follow safety protocols to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, but he continues to ignore them. California recently activated a “mass fatality” program and ordered thousands of body bags. The hospitalized and death rates have grown considerably in recent weeks. Cameron’s events have also taken place in areas where there have been recent dramatic spikes in new cases.

An official of the mall where he held his last event, named Oaks Mall, said the event was non-sanctioned but protected by the constitution.

Public Messages and Back-Lash

Many celebrities, including several of his long-time co-stars from Growing Pains, have spoken up to call him out. Jeremy Miller, who played his little brother on the show, expressed his disappointment in Cameron’s events over social media. Tracy Gold, who played his sister, also spoke out. Both of them expressed their concern and made it clear that they cared for him, and their reactions were coming from the right place.

His real sister Candice Cameron, or Cameron Bure, who plays D.J. on Fuller House, also took a moment to post her thoughts. Her message said she was following all safety protocols and hasn’t attended any of her brother’s Christmas caroling protest events. However, she went on to ask that the public stop with the hateful statements and threats against her family.

No Plans to Stop Holding the Events

When questioned recently by a reporter, Kirk Cameron said he encouraged masks at his events but didn’t require them. He also made his intentions clear to host many more events. He plans to continue the protests until officials lift the stay-at-home orders. In another post on social media, Cameron said they were out “celebrating our God-given liberties, our constitutionally protected rights.”

In The United States, there are close to 20 million citizens infected with the disease, and the death toll has climbed well past 300 thousand.
